How long do debit card transactions take to clear?

The length of time it takes for a debit transaction to clear is different for each merchant. You can monitor these transactions 24/7 through Interra Online Banking on your phone, tablet or PC.

Can I use my debit card as credit if I have no money?

If you choose to opt-in to and qualify for this protection, Interra offers a limited amount of overdraft protection to cover expenses that exceed the balance you have available. Contact Interra for additional options!

Does Interra have a contactless card?

Yes. Interra offers contactless debit cards. Members automatically receive their contactless card when it needs replaced or reissued.

How does the contactless card work?

Simply look for the contactless symbol during checkout and tap the debit card on the contactless-enabled card readers. Contactless cards have encryption on card readers to protect data making your card use easy and fast.

What does the chip do in debit cards?

When used at an EMV-accepting store or merchant, the chip encrypts the data from the card as it is sent to authorize a transaction, limiting the ability for your card information to be stolen by fraudsters.

Do you have to use a PIN with a chip card?

The PIN requirement differs based on the location in which you are using your card. Some stores require you to use your PIN, while others give you the option of PIN versus signature to authorize and secure the transaction.

For your security and protection, countries with terrorist ties or those that experience a high level of fraud are included on the blocked list. However, U.S. ATMs on military bases are not affected and are accessible.

Countries with blocked ATM/debit card access include: Belgium, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Myanmar (Burma), Romania, Russian Federation, Ukraine, and Vietnam.
